Walmart’s Catalog organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Java backend development to help build and scale critical services for our e-commerce platform.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java (8+)* and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
- Experience with Apache Kafka* for building streaming and event-driven systems
- Hands-on experience with Cassandra* or other NoSQL databases
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines* and GitHub workflows
- Familiarity with container orchestration using Kubernetes
- Experience with Apache Spark* for real-time data processing
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services and APIs using Java, Spring, and Kafka
- Build and maintain distributed, event-driven systems supporting millions of daily transactions
- Develop and optimize data pipelines and streaming services using Kafka* and potentially Spark
- Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, CI/CD processes, and code reviews
- Participate in performance tuning and troubleshooting of distributed systems
- Work with Kubernetes and GitHub* for deployment automation and source control management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and ensure alignment with business goals

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
