Zipcar, Inc. is looking to solve the problem of creating world-class APIs for web, mobile, and external teams to support over a million members and deliver innovative new solutions and applications in the mobility space.
Requirements
- Developing Microservices with Postgres DB interfaces, schemas and queries, and REST APIs
- Designing features using Event Driven Architecture
- Using Docker containers to develop and deploy microservices
- Developing distributed web applications with high performance, scalable, and secured by integrating with security plugins
- Debugging skills to investigate and resolve production issues within time constraints
- Experience in one of the following Server-side scripting languages: JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, bootstrap, Node.js, Angular.js, Backbone.js, Ext.js, Responsive design or JSP
- Experienced working with Kubernetes for containerized application management.
Responsibilities
- Create world-class APIs for web, mobile, and external teams supporting over a million members.
- Develop and release scalable, high-performance applications.
- Collaborate with full stack and backend engineers in developing cross-functional products through feature development and integrations with other microservice components.
- Provide technical feedback to QA engineers for test cases creation and participate in test driven development.
- Contribute to review and scope product requirements with Product Managers and UX designers.
- Develop Microservices with Postgres DB interfaces, schemas and queries, and REST APIs

- Work collaboratively with product designers, product managers and quality engineers to deliver innovative new solutions and applications for a market leader in the mobility space.
- Strive for continuous improvement of the Zipcar member experience.
- Coach and mentor other engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Position is fixed location based in Boston, MA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or a directly related field plus five (5) years of experience in a Developer position working in an ecommerce environment.
