Walmart is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on its strategic store finance experience product, which supports financial adjustments and reconciliation for store receiving and claims across multiple international markets. The role aims to automate processes and adopt AI to improve these financial operations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including 2–3 years as a technical lead for small to mid-sized development teams.
- Deep knowledge of software architecture, microservices, Java-based APIs, and systems testing.
- In-depth understanding of NoSQL databases (Cosmos, MongoDB) and design principles for large-scale, robust platforms.
- Familiarity with system performance, application security, monitoring tools, metrics, test automation, and behavior-driven development (BDD).
- Experience with cloud-native architectures and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Kafka, event-driven systems, and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for an agile development team of 6–8 engineers, driving design, development, and delivery of features and applications for multiple international markets.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs, microservices, and components using technologies such as Java Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases (Cosmos, MongoDB).
- Perform design and code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices and maintainability standards.
- Oversee development lifecycles, analyze application logs, maintenance activity data, and performance metrics; evaluate change requests for feasibility and validity.
- Track and guide resolution of critical technical debt and provide leadership in troubleshooting complex technical issues, including root cause analysis and prevention strategies.
- Document code, technical specifications, and instructional materials for team members and stakeholders.
- Research and implement best practices and emerging technologies to enhance system performance and security.
