Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture. Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will primary be working on SQL Replication component within SQL Server.
Requirements
- 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 4+ years experience shipping complex, enterprise-scale software with emphasis on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Expertise in relational database internals in one or more areas such as Replication and Transaction management.
Responsibilities
- In this role, you will be an individual contributor, working with a team of engineers to design, implement and maintain features in the Replication area that will benefit SQL Server and millions of customers on Azure SQL Databases
- As a senior engineer, you will have the opportunity to define and design what the next generation of SQL Server will be, and opportunity to develop excellent design skills.
- You will have the opportunity to grow as a technical leader, senior engineer, and a mentor to other engineers in the team.
- Opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders and architects to deliver timely products to our partners and customers.
- Develop and maintain new features in SQL Server of highest quality.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, architecture discussions.
