Microsoft's Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3) team aims to empower Microsoft's first-party real-time conversation products like Skype and Teams by providing reliable and high-quality audio/video calling, meetings, and chat services. The goal is to make these services work seamlessly across all devices and locations, and to enable third-party partners to integrate these capabilities into their own products. Additionally, IC3 seeks to make conversations more intelligent by surfacing useful information in real-time and taking actions on behalf of users, learning from each interaction to improve future experiences.

Requirements

  • Experience with programming for networking, multi-threaded systems, and/or real time media.
  • 2+ years of experience building large scale systems.
  • Understanding of system software including OS and networking.
  • Hands-on experience with real time communication protocols like RTP/SRTP/RTCP/ICE/STUN/TURN.
  • Experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
  • Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
  • Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
