Microsoft Azure Networking is looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to develop, test, deploy, and manage critical services that enable enterprises to connect their on-premise networks and devices to the cloud securely and performantly. The role involves innovating on Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) infrastructure to improve agility, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of Azure's network services.
Requirements
- 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 2+ years experience in one or more of the following areas: Networking: Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Google Remote Procedure Calls (gRPC), Transport Layer Security/Secure Sockets Layer (TLS/SSL), Hypertext Transfer Protocol/Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTP/HTTPS)
- 2+ years experience in Distributed Systems
- 2+ years experience in Designing and running large-scale fault-tolerant infrastructure services
- 2+ years experience in Representational State Transfer (RESTful) Services.
- 2+ years of experience in computer networking with a focus on layer 3 routing, including BGP and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
- 2+ years of experience in building networking cloud services.
Responsibilities
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Develop, test, deploy and manage operations of critical services.
- Build infrastructure and hyperscale systems that are responsible for high impact network services that provide reliable connectivity.

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
