Sonos Cloud Engineering organization is responsible for the development and maintenance of the core infrastructure that powers the Sonos customer experience. Our cloud services support 16M+ active households by providing connectivity and data to 50M+ internet connected speakers. In this role you will work alongside engineers from our cloud, mobile applications, and speaker software teams to unlock new listening experiences for our customers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience with software development in Java with a minimum of 3 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., customer identity and access management).
- Deep understanding of identity protocols such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, and SCIM with a strong understanding of security principles and how to build secure-by-default systems.
- Advanced experience with distributed systems and designing scalable, resilient applications with a deep knowledge of JSON API design and implementation.
- Expert level proficiency developing and deploying software with at least one public cloud stack (ex. AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Proven experience with implementing and maintaining comprehensive industry-standard observability solutions (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying services that utilize containers and Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction with regards to authorization and authentication.
- Design and implement secure systems for user access and permissions, often focusing on customer Identity and Access Management (IAM). Key responsibilities include developing features like Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), working with protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, and collaborating with security and product teams to build scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle including planning, requirements, development, and testing.
- Act as a customer advocate by participating in the product definition and planning process.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
- Support Production services in a DevOps environment, including monitoring system health, deploying software and services, and participating in on-call rotation and incident handling.
- Create automated tests and deployment processes that work with our continuous integration tools.
