Vitalize is building an intelligent operating system for hospital workforce management to replace outdated systems like spreadsheets and paper, aiming to improve safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, and reduce burnout and poor patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience shipping production software in a product-focused engineering role, ideally in fast-moving SaaS environments.
  • Strong proficiency in modern frontend and backend development.
  • Proven ability to build and scale user-facing products that are fast, intuitive, and reliable.
  • Experience designing backend systems that support multiple products or workflows, with an eye toward extensibility and long-term maintainability.
  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Postgres

Responsibilities

  • Build the core systems that power hospital operations at enterprise scale, and re-imagine how hospitals work.
  • Own and lead high-impact features end-to-end.
  • Develop event-driven infrastructure that reconciles high-latency, multi-source healthcare data into a coherent operational model, effectively a dynamic digital twin of the hospital.
  • Build systems that predict patient volume and staffing demand based on historical trends and real-time patient movement.
  • Develop a decision layer that produces actionable staffing recommendations under tight constraints and partial information.
  • Implement prompt-driven automation for nurse scheduling that replaces brittle manual workflows.
  • Design backend systems that support multiple products or workflows, with an eye toward extensibility and long-term maintainability.

Other

  • You’ll work closely with the founders, ops team, and customers to own and lead high-impact features end-to-end.
  • This is a high-autonomy role.
  • You’ll be expected to operate independently, make technical decisions, and own outcomes.
  • The problems are ambiguous, the constraints are real, and correctness matters.
  • A track record of ownership. You have taken ambiguous problems from idea to production and iterated based on real user feedback.
  • Comfort operating in early-stage environments. You move quickly, unblock yourself, and stay focused when structure is limited and stakes are high.
