The Outlook Copilot Service team at Microsoft is looking to build intelligent, AI-powered experiences across Outlook to shape the future of productivity for hundreds of millions of users.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 8+ years experience in designing, implementing, and scaling large-scale, distributed online systems with a deep understanding of system architecture and proven ability to profile, analyze, and optimize performance and availability of services, along with support and operations tasks.
- 3+ years experience with applications leveraging LLMs / GenAI.
- Knowledge of Data Science / Applied Science principles and ability to collaborate effectively with applied scientists on model integration, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services powering Outlook Copilot scenarios.
- Drive end-to-end service design by defining technical strategy, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance at global scale.
- Champion operational excellence by guaranteeing availability, resiliency, efficiency, observability, and performance of critical services.
- Lead automation and telemetry initiatives to uncover patterns, optimize systems, and enable continuous improvement.
- Own incident management: resolve complex service issues, minimize customer impact, and establish preventive measures through robust documentation and root-cause analysis.
- Influence cross-functional teams, partner with PMs, applied scientists, and UX designers to deliver intelligent, user-facing experiences.
- Mentor and guide engineers, fostering best practices in design, coding standards, and system reliability.

- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements including the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
