23andMe Research Institute is looking to solve complex large scale engineering challenges in designing, building, and managing large scale services that serve both external and internal customers, including backend services critical to customers' experience on the website, libraries in support of internal research, and powering machine learning and model development.
Requirements
- Expertise building libraries and services in Python, ideally in AWS
- Hands-on experience working with CI/CD deployment pipelines, Docker containers, and testing frameworks

Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain reliable scalable services, backend APIs and web applications to solve complex large scale engineering challenges at 23andMe Research Institute
- Develop and support compute pipelines that provide results to customers and internal teams
- Take part in on call rotations for the operational support for mission critical systems
- Build and rely on CI/CD methods and automatic testing to ensure reliable code, continuously delivered
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, product, security to deliver on strategic projects as well as maintain operational excellence of existing services
- Drive technical excellence through code and design reviews
Other
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent education, plus 5 years industry experience
- A team player attitude with comfortability operating in a highly collaborative environment
- Passion for backend systems engineering
- Comfort with on call rotations for operational support
- Ability to work in a diverse, inclusive workforce
