Brex is looking for an engineer to build, maintain, and monitor the infrastructure platform that other teams use to build and operate Brex’s products. The goal is to evangelize and educate other teams about the infrastructure and best practices for running their services on top of it, while also engineering computing, data storage, and networking functionality for customers and other critical cloud-based infrastructure components.
Requirements
- 5+ years building or operating production cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Deep Kubernetes experience (ideally EKS), including cluster bootstrap and day-2 ops.
- Strong PostgreSQL/Aurora operational knowledge (backups, failover, performance tuning).
- Terraform (or equivalent IaC) expertise and an eye for clean module design.
- Solid programming skills in Go or Python.
- Istio or another service-mesh in production.
- Experience with multi-region, multi-cluster topologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead multi-region rollout of our EKS fleet and Istio service mesh.
- Drive RDS Postgres and Aurora high-availability strategy, including cross-region replication.
- Design Terraform modules that provision VPC, IAM, and networking in minutes.
- Mentor engineers across Brex on cloud-native best practices.

- This role will be based in our San Francisco office.
- We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home.
- We currently require a minimum of two coordinated days in the office per week, Wednesday and Thursday.
