Microsoft is seeking to secure its clouds by operating internal security services with a focus on scanning, monitoring, alerting, and detections, and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the SCS Scanning & Platforms team to help solve complex security and systems focused problems in the sovereign cloud security space.
Requirements
- Coding experience in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Experience in building and supporting large-scale production services, including logging, monitoring, alerting, and ensuring reliability and availability.
- Experience with DevOps systems, including source code management, CI/CD pipelines, and code review tools.
- Experience in debugging and solving issues across operating systems, applications, and cloud environments.
- Experience with cloud and/or virtual machine computing and networking.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning and threat management in cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Envision, design, write and deliver software and infrastructure to improve the reliability, scalability, latency, operability, and efficiency of Azure security services.
- Solve problems relating to mission critical services and create solutions to prevent problem recurrence, with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
- Participate in periodic on-call duties to ensure 24x7 service health and reliability.
- Be a positive, team-oriented developer – mentoring, helping, growing and learning.
- Work closely with Azure Security engineering teams, product managers, internal security customers, and central Azure organization leveraging the best platforms that Microsoft has to offer.

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance/SCI With Polygraph
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
- U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
