Microsoft is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to develop features, improvements, enhancements, and bug fixes within Azure SQL products, ensuring they meet the security policy and assurance requirements of public and private sector customers, especially in highly secured and regulated industries. The role involves deploying and operating these services within an air-gapped environment, addressing complex problems to ensure production reliability at an enormous scale.
Requirements
- 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 3+ years of experience with PowerShell, C-Sharp, or C++.
- Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities.
- Front-end: React/TypeScript
- Back-end: C-Sharp/API development/Resource Provider development
- DevOps: CI/CD ADO
- Ability to build and influence broadly towards common goals and priorities.
Responsibilities
- Defines and develops standardized, repeatable, scalable solutions to guarantee quality.
- Develops “best-in-class” engineering for our services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored and reusable.
- Improves test coverage for services, organizes and implements integration tests, and resolves problem areas.
- Applies best practices to reliably build code that is based on well-established methods.
- Builds, enhances, reuses, contributes to, and identifies new software developer tools to support other programs and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for products.
- Contributes to the development of automation within production and deployment of a complex product feature.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
Other
- Candidates must have an active TS and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
- This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements.
