Capella Space is solving the problem of providing high-resolution, timely Earth insights through Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite technology, backed by a fully automated tasking, collection, and delivery platform. As a subsidiary of IonQ, they are also integrating quantum computing into space to enhance data fidelity, security, and speed for defense, intelligence, and commercial customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in software development with a focus on distributed systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Rust, Java or C++.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and distributed computing concepts.
- Experience with cloud-based distributed systems and microservices such as AWS Lambda, S3, EKS, and SQS.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of data storage and processing technologies such as SQL, MongoDB, InfluxDB, and Kafka.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop distributed systems to support satellite operations.
- Collaborate with teams to define system requirements and architecture.
- Implement software solutions to enable efficient data processing and transmission.
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and operability.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex distributed systems.
- Participate in on-call rotation schedule and lead complex incident investigations.
- Ensure software meets quality and security standards.

- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable.
