Microsoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enhance Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 Cloud PC (W365), which are recognized leaders in Desktop as a Service (DaaS). The role aims to solve distributed systems challenges and build high-scale infrastructure to improve the scalability, reliability, and performance of these cloud services.
Requirements
- 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping cloud services or software products.
- 3+ years of experience with distributed systems delivering large-scale, secure, and resilient cloud services.
- Broad experience and track record of working across teams to deliver shared solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to quickly ramp up, understand complex problems, and create solutions across many products.
- Ensure services are modular, secure, reliable, diagnosable, monitored, and reusable.
- Improve test coverage, implement integration tests, and resolve issues.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement critical platform features that directly impact the scalability, reliability, and performance of our cloud services.
- Deepen expertise in areas such as cloud compute, desktop virtualization, large-scale storage, and microservices architecture.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers to build new platform capabilities across virtualized compute, storage, and networking—enhancing the value we deliver globally.
- Lead architectural discussions and design efforts for product and solution components.
- Create design documentation and lead validation of proposed solutions.
- Optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance and maintainability.
- Design and develop large-scale distributed software services.

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
