Bloomberg needs to automate the deployment lifecycle of firewall and ACL configuration to its global network to keep the network infrastructure secure, meet evolving connectivity requirements, and prevent unwanted traffic while balancing the speed of rollout with the risk of disruption to global markets.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience working with an object-oriented programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, etc.)
- An understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms
- Experience building Python APIs using Django, FastAPI, Flask, etc
- Familiarity building UIs in React
- An interest in network security
- Experience in network automation/orchestration
- Experience with L7 firewalls and router ACLs
Responsibilities
- automating the deployment lifecycle of firewall and ACL configuration to our global network
- research, design, and implement solutions to orchestrate different parts of the policy deployment lifecycle
- Lead projects by taking responsibility for the full software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements from stakeholders to deploying and maintaining software
- Work with your peers on the team to come up with ideas and design solutions that are well communicated to stakeholders
- Mentor some of our junior engineers in software development practices and processes
Other
- A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience
- Honest approach to problem-solving, and ability to collaborate with peers, stakeholders and management
- The ability to take ownership and responsibility of issues and handle them effectively to resolution
