The City of Philadelphia's website, phila.gov, is the primary digital interface for millions of residents and visitors. The Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT) needs to improve the user experience and functionality of this website, as well as other critical city applications, to better serve the public and enhance the image of city government.

Requirements

  • Experience writing and establishing software patterns for an enterprise CMS
  • Some experience with PHP and PHP frameworks
  • Experience with SQL or Postgres databases
  • Deep experience working alongside other developers
  • Strong experience with Vuejs is highly preferable, but not required so long as you can demonstrate competency with another component based web framework.
  • Believe that unless your code is tested, it doesn’t count
  • Experience developing modern web applications in a production environment

Responsibilities

  • Building out new features on our WordPress platform using PHP and Vue.js
  • Guiding the implementation of City standards for phila.gov
  • Designing solutions – both from a tech and process perspective
  • Mentoring other engineers
  • Providing a safe space for code reviews
  • Collaborating with other team members to design and develop new features and APIs for phila.gov
  • Doing UI development
