Optum is seeking a skilled software engineer to develop large-scale software products and improve health outcomes by connecting people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data and resources they need to feel their best.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in developing applications on the Java platform (Spring Boot, REST Web Services)
- 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies such as Azure
- 3+ years of experience working with MySQL or similar databases, including writing complex join queries and SQL query tuning
- 3+ years of experience in applying object-oriented principles and recommended design patterns to create robust and scalable system designs
- 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes and containerization
- 2+ years of experience with microservice architecture
- 2+ years of JMS messaging experience using platforms like MQ or Kafka streaming
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate experience with the full development life cycle for large-scale software products
- Actively lead and participate in analysis of product features driving technical solutions, recommending alternative technical and business approaches
- Gather and analyze data to author, review and maintain engineering documentation where needed to make informed implementation decisions
- Collaborate with architecture and lead software engineer to ensure that solutions align with architectural principles, design patterns, and enterprise security requirements
- Independently designs, codes, tests and debugs applications and components adhering to secure coding, quality and maintainability best practices with minimal guidance
- Guides feature team in technical discussions and mentors other team members in code design and implementation
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other engineers and offshore/global teams and facilitates this communication when needed
Other
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Undergraduate degree (or higher) (Preferred)
- Proactive in identifying and escalating potential risks and impediments, and coming up with alternative solutions
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- Effective communication skills with other engineers and stakeholders
