Waymo is looking to solve the business and technical problem of improving access to mobility and saving lives by developing and deploying fully autonomous driving technology. The Sensor Foundations Team specifically aims to provide cleaned-up sensor data through highly optimized APIs to Perception models, abstract sensor hardware differences, and provide low-level Perception signals to accelerate the transition of low-level Perception tasks from algorithms to machine learning.
Requirements
- Strong C/C++ skills
- Proficiency with Python
- Experience with Computer Vision and Machine Learning
- Experience with System Integration
- Experience with sensor data processing (Lidar, camera, or radar)
- Experience in the AV industry
Responsibilities
- Transition low-level Perception tasks from algorithms to machine learning
- Work on system integration and optimization
- Evaluate task-level and system-level quality, developing new metrics as needed
Other
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or similar technical field of study
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Masters or PhD Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a similar discipline
- This role follows a hybrid work schedule
- Reports to the Technical Lead Manager of the Sensor Foundations Team
