Mercury is rapidly expanding and setting the new standard for what a business banking platform can do for its customers. As we grow beyond traditional business banking into financial workflows, we must maintain a unified experience. The Spend Management team is building products and platforms that redefine how companies implement processes and strategies to track, control, and optimize their spending, addressing customer frustration with existing complex and fragmented spend management solutions.
Requirements
- Has 7-10+ years of software development experience, with a knowledge of or excitement to learn Haskell
- Has made architectural decisions in the past and measured the impact of those decisions over time. You should be able to clearly articulate your technical opinions and lay out tradeoffs.
Responsibilities
- Drive architectural decisions and define the technical direction, while fostering alignment across the team and mentoring engineers toward those goals
- Build core functionality in Haskell, ensuring the product is performant, maintainable, and scalable
- Mentor and support more junior engineers on the team, raising the bar for technical excellence

- Feel a strong sense of ownership - driving the product from early concepts to launch and beyond, while keeping the user experience front and center in every decision
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to create intuitive, lovable experiences
- Is passionately customer and product minded and has experience building, shipping, and iterating on new products
- Is someone comfortable driving discussions in areas with ambiguous ownership, approaches them with empathy, and delights in getting outcomes.
- Is ridiculously helpful and doesn’t mind crossing team boundaries to improve the product experience and reduce tech debt
