Google is looking to hire a Software Engineering Manager to lead a multi-site organization of Software Engineers, delivering productivity tools for the Google Global Networking (GGN) organization. This role aims to provide common tooling for testing, testbeds, and labs, manage resource reservation and isolation, and develop a cohesive test strategy with external teams.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience with software development.
- 7 years of experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
- Experience with software development for engineering productivity.
- Experience in the networking domain.
Responsibilities
- Ensure sound technical direction settings either directly or through team leads in the team, guide and vet systems designs, review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
- Provide common tooling to support all of GGN engineering in the areas of testing, testbeds and labs.
- Provide resource reservation and isolation for equipment and services in the lab environment and maintain all infrastructure services needed for test execution.
- Work with external teams that require testing with GGN software and hardware to develop a cohesive test strategy.
- Provide testing guidance for functional, integration, solution, and staging testing.
- Optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs.
- Contribute to product strategy.
