Anduril Industries is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the development of Connected Factory, the software and infrastructure foundation for their next-generation manufacturing ecosystem. This role aims to architect, build, and scale the digital backbone connecting people, robots, and systems within smart factories, enabling real-time data flow, automation, and coordination across all factory floor layers.
Requirements
- Proven experience building or supporting industrial or manufacturing systems, with strong knowledge of automation, controls, and factory networking.
- Expertise in data infrastructure, API design, IoT protocols, and edge computing architectures.
- Experience deploying and managing systems that bridge IT and OT domains, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.
- Familiarity with robotic systems, industrial automation, and real-time data streaming technologies.
- Familiarity with data collection, processing, and reporting for factory infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and DevOps practices.
- 8+ years of experience in software or dev ops engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management role.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of software and infrastructure engineers building core Connected Factory services.
- Define system architectures that support smart manufacturing at scale, including edge computing, data pipelines, and API integrations between machines and enterprise systems.
- Design and deploy compute infra to support real-time data exchange across thousands of devices and sensors on the factory floor.
- Implement high-reliability networks, message brokers, and APIs that facilitate safe and secure communication between machines, humans, and cloud services.
- Develop tools and services that enable simulation, orchestration, and monitoring of production environments.
- Ensure systems align with Industry 4.0 and IoT interoperability standards (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT).
- Oversee deployment of edge nodes, data collection systems, and digital twins that optimize throughput and predictive maintenance.
Other
- Partner with Automation, Manufacturing, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration between software, robotics, and operational technologies.
- Collaborate with automation and robotics teams to enable human-machine collaboration and efficient factory operations.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to translate operational needs into scalable software solutions.
- Drive best practices in code quality, reliability, and observability across the FactoryOS stack.
- Champion a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
