Google needs software engineers to develop next-generation technologies, manage information at a massive scale, and extend beyond web search to solve critical business problems
Requirements
- 8 years of experience with software development
- 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture
- Understanding of issues in building cloud-scale services such as scaling and reliability, risk isolation and resilience, and security
- Experience developing/launching products/technologies within software as a service or a related area
- Experience with information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile
Responsibilities
- Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
- Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Own large-scale systems and infrastructure, with a solid understanding of distributed systems and database infrastructure.
- Drive consensus, discover risk, build a long-term roadmap, and grow an enthusiastic and motivated team of engineers.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role
- Ability to have technical expertise, empathy, intellectual curiosity, bias for action, and a can-do attitude
- Ability to have excellent customer empathy
- 5 years of experience working in a cross-functional organization
