The Software Technical Documentation Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving technical documentation for the Badger Meter software suite, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and user-friendliness for external audiences.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation for software products.
- Strong understanding of software development concept and tools, such as Agile development process
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as WordPress, Confluence, Adobe, or similar.
- Knowledge of UX principles and content design for digital interfaces.
- Strong understanding of software development concept and tools, such as Agile development process preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user guides, API references, system architecture descriptions
- Work with product and marketing teams to ensure documentation aligns with branding and messaging standards as well as streamlining localization resources.
- Collaborate with software development teams to gather technical details and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Standardize and enforce documentation styles, templates, and version control practices.
- Manage document repositories and ensure content is properly organized and up to date.
- Review and edit documentation created by other contributors for consistency and clarity.
- Assist in the creation of online help systems, knowledge bases, and internal wikis and training material.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Exceptional experience can be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical thinking and ability to quickly grasp complex systems.
- Strong organizational skills and version control discipline.
