The company is seeking a Software Virtualization Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide expert guidance and support in the area of software virtualization at a customer site, ensuring operational readiness and adherence to DoD standards for the Virtual Computing Environment (VCE) within WSOMS.
Requirements
- Experience in VMWare and Hyper-V, and familiar with other virtualization protocols.
- Stays abreast of new technology as it relates to DoD environments.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the creation, maintenance/administration, and troubleshooting of the Virtual Computing Environment (VCE) in WSOMS Manage and balance virtual machine resources across hosts in the clusters.
- Maintains awareness of new virtualization products and administration methods with rese arch and new technology training.
- Recommends and provides guidance to maintain existing VCE and migration to future candidate systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ESXi and VDl issues by providing tier 2/3 incident ticket support.
- Assist in maintaining server images and configuring Windows and Linux servers as required to develop a standard of VCE administration guidelines for WSOMS Provides recommend actions to PM DCATS and system developer s to maintain a VCE standard in WSOMS.
- Provides training as needed to field engineers to enhance or maintain their troubleshooting skills.
- Provides troubleshooting g expertise as required via remote access or other appropriate means.
Other
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance
- Participates in user community CCBs. Provides guidance to the WS0MS community to maintain a high level of operational readiness and adhere to DoD standards.
- Acts as a single point of contact for questions and concerns regarding the WSOMS VCE Participates in al WSOC and C-SSE new equipment fielding training as it relates to virtualization.
- Travels to sites as necessary for hands-on troubleshooting and support of new system fielding.
- Maintain Top Secret Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
