Shiseido Americas is seeking a Senior Toxicologist to act as a subject-matter expert supporting business strategies and product development for global brands, ensuring safety and microbiological assessment throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in interpreting toxicology data and awareness of global cosmetic regulations.
- Proficient in computational tools (e.g., MS Word, Excel).
Responsibilities
- Conduct safety assessments for raw ingredients and finished formulations, interpreting toxicological and microbiological data to support product development and innovation.
- Provide scientific and technical due diligence for business development, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze and interpret data to make timely technical decisions in collaboration with management and project teams.
- Prepare and organize materials for Cosmetic Product Safety Reports and official Q&A on safety and microbiological matters.
- Operate toxicological and microbiological testing as needed, evaluating the impact of study results on project milestones and strategy.
- Review and evaluate safety-related consumer complaints, post-market surveillance, and launch monitoring data.
- Manage documentation for safety-related issues, including post-marketing surveillance.
Other
- 5–7 years of experience in toxicity and safety assurance for cosmetics and personal care products.
- An advanced degree (MS/PhD) in toxicology or related discipline, or relevant certifications (DABT, ERT).
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities in a global, multicultural environment.
- Can work independently, handle complex issues, and solve problems with general guidance.
