Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Senior Staff Engineer for Core Engineering to lead in developing cloud architecture, automation, and hybrid infrastructure, emphasizing team mentorship and platform strategy.
Requirements
- 7+ years in IT infrastructure, and/or cloud engineering
- Profound knowledge in automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formations, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Proven success leading complex infrastructure projects
- Certifications not required, but encouraged: AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect, etc.
Responsibilities
- Drive the technical vision, build, and implementation of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure, with a primary focus on AWS and Azure.
- Establish and implement standard methodologies for multi-account architecture, IAM, networking, and service deployment models.
- Advocate for and participate in Infrastructure as Code frameworks (such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK).
- Partner with Architecture, Platform, and Infrastructure teams to define the enterprise hybrid cloud roadmap, ensuring seamless integration across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Lead technical evaluations and strategy development for next-generation hypervisor platforms to support dynamic workloads.
- Provide oversight on workload placement, cost modeling, and interoperability across platforms (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure, edge compute).
- Fulfill the role of mentor and main contact for engineers specializing in cloud, automation, and infrastructure.
