Binti aims to improve the child welfare system by providing modern software to help every child have a safe, loving, and stable family, addressing the shortage of foster/adoptive parents and supporting families in accessing necessary services.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience leading and coordinating large infrastructural and architectural projects and rollouts
- Ability to architect, build and maintain configurable systems that unlock better workflows in foster care
- Excitement to jump into our Ruby on Rails and React architecture and write foundational and expansive features.
- Prior experience with product development on a web application is strongly favored.
- Ruby, Rails, React or GraphQL experience is a plus.
- Experience with configurable enterprise software, or better yet government-facing software is a strong positive.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture discussions during feature development to ensure that projects are built in a sound, reliable, performant way
- Improve user experiences that software engineers and engineering teams depend on during their day-to-day workflow
- Full Stack coding, 60% back end and 40% front end
- Optimize the performance of components for both latency and throughput
- Monitor all of the above in a scalable way
- Guide incident response and vulnerability remediation efforts
- Champion security and privacy, including looking for ways to make it easier to safeguard HIPAA compliance for sensitive data and incorporate security best practices

- Product oriented engineers who are skilled at leveraging AI both in their coding and in the products they build, and who are passionate about using technology to drive positive impact.
- Much of our team is local to the San Francisco Bay Area and works via a hybrid setup – in-person from the office some days and remote otherwise.
- Mentor other engineers on best practices for software engineering
- Collaborate with Product Management to scope and execute product features while maintaining Binti’s values.
