Rivian Volkswagen's Vehicle Access team is seeking a talented individual to join our growing data science function. This is a unique opportunity to shape our data strategy from the ground up, transforming raw vehicle data into actionable insights and intelligent systems that enhance the customer experience.

Requirements

  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and its scientific computing ecosystem (e.g., Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas) for data analysis and ML model development.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying dashboards using one or more tools like Tableau, Hex, and/or Looker.
  • Proficiency in data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Proven experience in data analytics, including exploratory data analysis, data visualization, and reporting.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of statistics and probability with an understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics, sampling methods, hypothesis testing, regression analysis.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • A fundamental, first-principles understanding of the lower OSI layers, including wireless signal propagation, antenna theory, RF concepts, and signal processing.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the critical effort of documenting hundreds of raw vehicle access signals, understanding their meaning and utility.
  • Streamline the process of creating aggregated data tables from raw data, building robust and efficient data pipelines for analytics and ML readiness.
  • Immediately contribute to the development and deployment of analytics dashboards (using tools like Tableau, Hex, Looker) to monitor the health of existing and new vehicle access features.
  • Collaborate with product teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that accurately reflect the health and performance of the vehicle access system.
  • Have great attention to detail in verifying the instrumentation of raw signals and validating the accuracy and reliability of insights generated from your analysis.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models to predict potential issues and offer personalized recommendations for an enhanced customer experience.
  • Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely execution.

  • Work cross-functionally with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand business needs, technical constraints, and data requirements.
  • Navigate ambiguous situations with a proactive and focused approach, identifying solutions and driving projects forward.
  • Be humble, willing to learn new technologies, methodologies, and domain-specific knowledge in the rapidly evolving EV space.
  • Experience working in a distributed team environment, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with partners and colleagues across different time zones.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with proven experience managing resources, reporting to C-suite executives, and leading technical discussions across diverse engineering groups.
