Google Cloud Storage (GCS) needs a Senior Staff Engineer to drive technical direction and innovation strategy, with direct impact over critical business objectives, to handle information at massive scale and extend beyond web search.
Requirements
- Experience with Performance optimization.
- Experience with C++ and software architecture.
- 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
- Experience in building storage solutions involving hardware offloads.
- Experience in driving multi-year engineering projects across multiple teams.
- Experience in defining technical strategy for major software products.
Responsibilities
- Iterate through ideas and prototypes in a small team to identify viable solutions to hard technical problems.
- Define and drive a technical roadmap in the GCS Offloads domain, balancing short and long-term technology investments, new product launches and tech debt reduction.
- Drive adoption of hardware and software innovations across GCS stack by influencing teams and stakeholders across Storage, Networking, Compute and Platforms.
- Review technical designs from the team, guide technical discussions and grow technical leaders.
- Uphold a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and respect.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
