Google is looking to solve the problem of providing solutions for public sector organizations and regulated enterprises facing strict data residency and security requirements, by building fully isolated, air-gapped environments that operate without connection to Google Cloud or the public internet.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 7 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- 5 years of experience with site reliability engineering focused on building and maintaining scalable, reliable systems.
- 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
- Experience in Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies.
- Experience with open-source components and open ecosystem built on the Kubernetes API.
- Experience with integrated AI/ML from Vertex AI.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute deployment and operations scaling strategies for solutions, and aligning with overall product strategy and business objectives.
- Design, vet, and deploy life-cycle features, tooling, and processes for planning, deployment, operations, upgrades, expansion, and turn down of GDC air-gapped instances.
- Develop a strategic technical roadmap for Operations Engineering projects in collaboration with stakeholders across GDC and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Foster partnerships with various sub-teams within GDC, driving joint projects that strengthen overall Operations Excellence.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers focused on Operations Engineering, and cultivate and manage relationships with key customers, serving as a primary engineering point of contact.
Other
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a structured organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Ability to work with customers and serve as a primary engineering point of contact.
