Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) is a private cloud solution for public sector and regulated enterprises. The Senior Systems Development Engineer will focus on deploying and operating these GDC solutions for customers, addressing the need for advanced Google services on-premise without internet connection.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience with systems automation, systems design, and implementation.
• 5 years of experience with technical infrastructure (e.g., deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting) and with reliability of technical infrastructure.
• 3 years of experience with Kubernetes or a similar container orchestration platform.
• 3 years of experience with TCP/IP networking and with diagnosing and resolving network-related issues.
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-grade storage systems including SAN, NAS, or distributed file systems.
• Knowledge of hypervisors (e.g., KVM, vSphere, Hyper-V) and experience managing virtualized environments.
• Strong background in identity and access management, including enterprise-level solutions like active directory or LDAP.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex day-to-day troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure issues (e.g., Network, Storage, Servers, OS, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Participate in customer, partner, and internal team deployments which will require international travel.
• Be able to personify and own the IO persona experiences defined in GDC air-gapped product.
• Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation to support escalations from client deployments as well as internal reference deployments.
• Manage services and systems at scale.
• Automate the mundane and reduce toil.
• Develop tools and solutions that fix classes of problems.

Other

• Participate in customer, partner, and internal team deployments which will require international travel.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
• Experience managing customer relationships.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients to understand their technical needs.
• Be able to personify and own the IO persona experiences defined in GDC air-gapped product.
