ASSYST is seeking a UI/UX Designer to improve the accessibility, usability, and responsiveness of a State client's eligibility systems.

Requirements

  • 11 Years (Required) Hands-on experience designing user interfaces and experiences for enterprise systems, including wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch.
  • 11 Years (Required) Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into intuitive design solutions that align with accessibility and branding standards.
  • 10 Years (Required) Experience applying UX design principles such as hierarchy, contrast, and alignment to create responsive and accessible web and mobile interfaces.
  • 10 Years (Required) Experience creating wireframes and prototypes that support agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visual fidelity transitions.
  • 5 Years (Preferred) Experience designing graphical diagrams and visual narratives to communicate timelines, workflows, and system architecture.
  • 3 Years (Preferred) Demonstrated ability to facilitate design workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • 3 Years (Preferred) Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple design streams across concurrent work effort.

Responsibilities

  • Lead user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain deep insights into user interactions and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with established accessibility guidelines and branding standards.
  • Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply industry best practices in UI/UX design.
  • Engage in discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to ensure that design decisions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Employ a comprehensive suite of tools—including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Hotjar—and implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO optimization strategies.
  • Experience with AI/ML Interfaces: Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces for systems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, with a focus on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles.
  • Data Visualization: Skill in presenting complex data and AI insights in a clear, concise, and understandable visual format.

Other

  • Position will be 2 days remote with 3 days (Mon, Tues & Thurs) required to be ONSITE.
  • Program will only allow candidates who are LOCAL TO THE AUSTIN AREA ONLY (Within 50-mile radius).
  • Complex System Design: Ability to understand and design for complex business logic and regulatory requirements, particularly in domains like government services, healthcare, or finance.
  • Empathy and User Advocacy: Deep commitment to understanding user needs and advocating for user-centered design principles.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present design solutions to stakeholders.
