Illumina is seeking an mid-career User Experience Researcher to join their growing team of researchers and designers as they build best-in-class customer experiences across all Illumina hardware and software platforms and touchpoints. The goal is to translate business objectives and customer needs into stellar customer experiences, while resolving technical and team challenges with little oversight.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in user research with an emphasis on research related to software and hardware product design
- Excellent knowledge of all aspects of user-centered design process and the ability to apply them flexibly across a variety of project types
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods is required
- Solid experience with Voice of the Customer (VOC) or Jobs to be done (JTBD) research methods
- Experience programming basic user research surveys in Qualtrics or similar programs such as CMIX or Forsta
- Experience analyzing Conjoint on MaxDiff data, specifically with Sawtooth software
- Experience with design control and Regulatory practices and standards for medical devices or similar regulated Industries preferred
Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers, development teams, designers and other stakeholders to identify research needs
- Develop plans for user research activities across the product lifecycle from early-stage design and product definition activities to post-release assessment
- Understand and incorporate business and technical requirements in research strategies
- Work with product teams to define user experience goals and metrics
- Design and conduct a variety of qualitative user research studies including user interviews, contextual inquiry, customer journey mapping, focus groups, task analysis, expert reviews, formative and summative usability tests
- Design and conduct a variety of quantitative user research studies, including conjoint, MaxDiff, and TURF
- Synthesize research findings into meaningful themes and translate these results into actionable user-centered design and product goals
Other
- Masters degree in marketing, market research, human factors, human computer interaction, cognitive science or closely related field is required
- Extensive experience working with product managers, designers, and engineers in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Ability to rapidly revise and improvise research plans as needed
- Proven project management skills and track record of delivering commitments on time
- Ability to prioritize time between multiple projects and stay flexible with changing schedules and projects while working with multiple teams
