Goodyear is looking to leverage digital innovation and data-driven engineering to shape the future of consumer tire design through its Virtual Tire Development (VTD) process, aiming to improve product performance and development efficiency.
Requirements
- Structural FEA, CFD or heat transfer analysis.
- Computer Science (e.g. machine learning, data architecture, data management, programming, “big data” technologies).
- Data Analysis skills such as writing SQL queries in AWS, Visualizations with Tableau and data analysis in JMP
- Proficient knowledge and usage of programming languages such as Python, C, C++ and Fortran.
- Expertise in CAD for complex geometries.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in solving engineering problems.
- Familiarity with product development cycles and experimental design.
Responsibilities
- Lead Virtual Tire Development Projects: Apply VTD tools and strategies to develop tires that meet or exceed customer expectations and performance targets.
- Translate Customer Needs: Collaborate to define tire characteristic target zones using performance quantification techniques.
- Champion Data-Driven Design: Use advanced machine learning and FEA tools to extract insights and support decision-making.
- Coach & Educate: Promote VTD methodology across teams, providing training and technical support.
- Drive Innovation: Identify capability gaps and lead initiatives to enhance tools and processes.
- Improve Efficiency: Document lessons learned, escalate technical challenges, and prioritize improvements.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, required (Master’s preferred).
- 6+ years of relevant experience in product development or engineering, required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience mentoring and training engineering teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across the organization.
