Microsoft's Azure Cloud Transfer Service (CTS) needs experienced engineers to solve complex problems in mission-critical distributed systems, specifically enabling secure data transmission across enclaves and clouds for highly regulated industries. This involves building, deploying, and supporting systems that meet stringent security and assurance requirements for both public and private sector customers.
Requirements
- Experience implementing cloud-based network solutions or hybrid (on-site/cloud) solutions.
- Experience configuring physical networking equipment such as Arista, Juniper, Cisco, and PaloAlto.
- Experience with host-based virtualization technologies such as Linux Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM) or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Proven experience in scripting languages such as Linux Bash, Windows PowerShell, and Python.
- Experience with Linux operating system distributions, including Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Azure Linux.
- Experience working with common automation technologies such as Ansible.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries.
Responsibilities
- Responds to incidents during regular on-call rotations by identifying the level of impact, troubleshooting issues, and deploying appropriate fixes to resolve root cause(s).
- Demonstrates understanding of service and/or system design, interactions between technology layers and components, functions of physical infrastructure (networking and servers) and cloud-based infrastructure, and dependencies at scale.
- Contributes to improving service architecture and design of a hybrid (physical and cloud-based) service through automation, software development, and networking with minimal guidance.
- Adjusts configurations and defines infrastructures to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and/or performance of supported products and services, with minimal guidance from other engineers.
- Monitors and acts on telemetry data and performs analyses to identify patterns that reveal errors and unexpected problems that are affecting the system's availability, reliability, performance, and/or efficiency, with minimal guidance.
- Develops scripting and/or automation used in monitoring based on observations and experience.
- Implements reliable, scalable, and high-performance solutions including software development, scripting, networking, automation, and hybrid deployments across teams through owning implementation and maintaining quality with minimal guidance.
