Applied Research Laboratories is seeking a Simulation Engineering Scientist to provide systems engineering analysis, design, integration, implementation, testing, and support for DoD simulation and instrumentation systems. These systems are crucial for test and evaluation of DoD systems, supporting DoD systems development, experimentation with new materiel and procedures, and training.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience using object-oriented programming languages.
  • Three years of experience developing large multi-threaded software applications.
  • Three years of experience developing software on the Linux or Microsoft Windows platforms.
  • Experience working with large software applications including the ability to assimilate the existing architecture, design, and implementation details required to maintain extend the system capabilities.
  • Experience extracting operational and behavioral details from DoD specification documents, subject matter experts, and by observation of system operation.
  • Experience diagnosing and correcting faulty behavior in complex systems.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation methods and techniques.
  • Understanding of computer networking, protocols, and messaging.
  • Familiarity with existing and planned DoD Mission Command or AMD defense tactical systems.
  • Five years of experience implementing software for Mission Command or AMD related systems.
  • Experience with Cloud Computing, Cloud Service Infrastructures, and Cloud development tools and methods.
  • Fluency in two or more of the following programming languages: Java, C++, C, Fortran, Ada.
  • Familiarity with Eclipse, Git, Jenkins.
  • Experience with RMF and 8570.1M IAT Level I.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, modify existing, and integrate new and existing simulation and instrumentation software.
  • Provide expertise and maintain current knowledge of DoD Mission Command and Air and Missile Defense systems.
  • Perform testing of developed instrumentation and simulation software.
  • Provide support and training to users of instrumentation and simulation system.
  • Support Government software accreditation and product documentation activities.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

  • Applicant must be highly organized, have excellent attention to detail, and possess sound scientific judgment.
  • The position will require effective management of their own time with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Regular and punctual attendance in the workplace is required.
  • US Citizen.
