Applied Research Laboratories (ARL) at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Simulation Engineering Scientist Associate to develop, modify, and integrate simulation and instrumentation software for DoD systems. These systems are crucial for test and evaluation, supporting system development, experimentation, and training for the Department of Defense.
Requirements
- Ability to develop software object-oriented programming languages.
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation methods and techniques.
- Understanding of computer networking, protocols, and messaging.
- Three years of experience using object-oriented programming languages.
- Three years of experience developing large multi-threaded software applications.
- Three years of experience developing software on the Linux or Microsoft Windows platforms.
- Fluency in two or more of the following programming languages: Java, C++, C, Fortran, Ada. Familiarity with Eclipse, Git, Jenkins.
Responsibilities
- Develop new, modify existing, and integrate new and existing simulation and instrumentation software.
- Perform testing of developed instrumentation and simulation software.
- Maintain expertise and maintain current knowledge of DoD Mission Command and Air and Missile Defense systems.
- Provide support and training to users of instrumentation and simulation system.
- Support Government software accreditation and product documentation activities.
Other
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, mathematics, engineering or other applied sciences.
- Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, and effectively communicate (both written and orally) with all groups of clients.
- Applicant must be highly organized, have excellent attention to detail, and possess sound scientific judgment.
- The position will require effective management of their own time with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
