Prince William County Department of Information Technology is seeking a Software Asset Management Manager to oversee the organization’s software assets, optimize software usage, and ensure compliance with licensing agreements while supporting the county's technology objectives. The manager will play a crucial role in maintaining cost efficiency and reducing risks associated with software procurement and management.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience with SAM Tools (i.e., ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow, or similar)
- 3 years of experience with cloud-based software licensing and management
- Certified Software Asset Manager Certification
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
Responsibilities
- Ensure an accurate software inventory across all departments.
- Oversee the software asset lifecycle, which includes acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Improve processes related to Software Asset Management (SAM)
- Ensure compliance of the software with licensing agreements and regulatory standards.
- Implement regular audits to identify any discrepancies.
- Maintain comprehensive and updated records for the purpose of external audits.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of software utilization to identify licenses that may be underutilized or redundant and propose strategies aimed at achieving cost savings.
Other
- High school diploma or G.E.D. and 7 years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5 years of experience in software asset management and IT asset management for large-scale enterprise software environments
- 5 years of experience managing budgets
- 5 years of experience in contract negotiation and vendor management
