Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Software Controls and Integration Engineer to support the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) which is undergoing major plant control systems upgrades over the next 10 years to replace ageing and obsolescence systems, components, and equipment to support long term operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with electrical and instrumentation and control.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA control systems software including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, GE iFIX and Visual Basic.
  • Experience with servers, networking components, common protocols, and databases..
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and interpret requirements and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability in hardware/software integration.
  • Knowledge and experience with: 10CFR830 – Nuclear Safety Management, DOE O 414.1D – Quality Assurance, ASME NQA-1 – Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications, FISMA 2002 – Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, NIST Special Publication (SP) 800 Series – Computer Security.
  • Experience with cybersecurity / firewalls.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, development, implementation of the division’s software-based Industrial Control Systems (ICS) throughout the entire system development life cycle, including configuration control, software quality assurance, and cyber security.
  • Provide technical support to operations, and maintenance, and perform systems analysis.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA control systems software including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, GE iFIX and Visual Basic.
  • Experience with servers, networking components, common protocols, and databases..
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and interpret requirements and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability in hardware/software integration.

Other

  • May require a RAD Worker II training.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience. Additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • United States (U.S.) citizen
  • Able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
