Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is undertaking a greenfield initiative to design and build foundational infrastructure and platform solutions, and is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff to contribute to the architecture, design, and development of this next-generation system.
Requirements
- Strong background in distributed systems, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++
- Experience with cloud-native design patterns, CI/CD, service observability, and API development
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, and an understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles
- Strong technical depth in distributed systems
- Experience building infrastructure platforms
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Responsibilities
- Drive major technical components within the platform, translating high-level goals into scalable designs and delivering reliable, cloud-native solutions
- Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to define system architecture, make thoughtful trade-offs, and contribute to a shared technical vision
- Take ownership of complex technical areas, lead design reviews, and be a hands-on contributor throughout the software development lifecycle
- Elevate engineering quality across the team by mentoring peers, advocating for best practices, and contributing to process and tooling improvements
- Design and implement high-scale, reliable systems
- Work with cloud-native design patterns, CI/CD, service observability, and API development
- Use DevOps tools and practices, and apply infrastructure-as-code principles
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience in greenfield or large-scale systems design
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
- Compliance with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates
