Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is undertaking a greenfield initiative to design and build foundational infrastructure and platform solutions, and is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff to contribute to the architecture, design, and development of this next-generation system.

Requirements

  • Strong background in distributed systems, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++
  • Experience with cloud-native design patterns, CI/CD, service observability, and API development
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, and an understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles
  • Strong technical depth in distributed systems
  • Experience building infrastructure platforms
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

Responsibilities

  • Drive major technical components within the platform, translating high-level goals into scalable designs and delivering reliable, cloud-native solutions
  • Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to define system architecture, make thoughtful trade-offs, and contribute to a shared technical vision
  • Take ownership of complex technical areas, lead design reviews, and be a hands-on contributor throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Elevate engineering quality across the team by mentoring peers, advocating for best practices, and contributing to process and tooling improvements
  • Design and implement high-scale, reliable systems
  • Work with cloud-native design patterns, CI/CD, service observability, and API development
  • Use DevOps tools and practices, and apply infrastructure-as-code principles

Other

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience in greenfield or large-scale systems design
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
  • Compliance with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates
