OCI is looking to define and build the future of Compute, specifically focusing on the Compute Data Plane which underpins Oracle's virtual machine offerings, disaster recovery, OS image management, health monitoring, orchestration, and cloud agents. The goal is to architect, build, and scale these core infrastructure services to support massive scale with reliability, performance, and security for enterprise cloud computing.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and operating high-scale distributed systems or infrastructure platforms
- 4+ years of experience with OS kernel internals (e.g., memory management, device drivers, or kernel subsystems)
- Experience in systems level performance evaluation using benchmarking tools
- Deep expertise in cloud virtualization, compute orchestration, OS image management, high-availability, and disaster recovery
- Proficient in systems-level programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, and/or Go
- Demonstrated history of technical leadership, decision-making, and mentoring
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex, global-scale compute infrastructure—powering millions of VMs and supporting diverse workloads across thousands of hypervisors.
- Drive architectural decisions for disaster recovery automation, virtualization, agent-based management, and OS image provisioning.
- Set technical direction for new features and enhancements, influencing both short-term deliveries and long-term strategy.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, setting the standard for technical excellence and best practices.
- Engage with cross-functional leaders (product, security, reliability, operations) to deliver end-to-end solutions that meet Oracle’s standards for performance, security, and scalability.
- Represent our team in technical forums, advocate for best-in-class engineering, and continuously raise the bar for quality in our deliverables.
- Architect and build scalable, reliable, and secure compute and recovery solutions for OCI
