Develop and enhance features to make Apple products more usable for those with vision and speech disabilities.
Requirements
- Using assistive technologies such as screen readers (VoiceOver) and switch scanners (SwichControl) for the purpose of understanding existing capabilities of software, and user expectations, in the field of accessibility.
- Using Swift, C++, Javascript and Objective-C to write accessibility software for Apple’s platforms (iOS, tvOS, visionOS), as well as for platform on which Apple apps run (AndroidTV, FireTV).
- Debugging software such as LLDB, and debugging strategies, to investigate and debug large software systems.
- Bug tracking software including Bugzilla, to manage software issues, from analysis, to resolution.
- Auditing applications for accessibility compliance
- Preparing verbal and written communications with a technical focus to analyze and resolve accessibility software issues.
- Source code tracking software such as git, to manage and integrate changes to large code bases.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance features to make Apple products more usable for those with vision and speech disabilities.
- Audit aspects of media playback for accessibility quality.
- Attend engineering meetings to discuss architecture for accessibility features.
- Fix bugs related to assistive technologies on Apple platforms.
- Screen issues by analyzing user feedback.
- Collaborate with partner teams to enable accessibility across different apps and platforms.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to Identify potential improvements in accessibility features.

- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
