ID.me is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to empower internal product engineering teams by building and maintaining tools, templates, and automation that streamline the development lifecycle, enabling engineers to rapidly bootstrap new projects, upgrade existing services, and ensure consistent adoption of production standards across the organization.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in a modern programming language (e.g., Java, Go, Python, Ruby, JavaScript).
  • Experience working in a platform or product infrastructure team.
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and DevOps tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and CI/CD systems.
  • Experience building or contributing to internal development platforms, SDKs, or scaffolding tools.
  • Understanding of production observability principles (logging, metrics, alerting).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of high-quality CLI tools, GitHub Actions, or other automation to apply standardized production readiness configurations (e.g., security settings, observability setup, infrastructure hooks).
  • Own end-to-end delivery of medium to large platform features or services, from technical design through deployment and support.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and pairing.
  • Collaborate, contribute to, and evolve the internal platform experience, ensuring high usability and developer satisfaction.
  • Drive best practices in code quality, observability, security, and operational readiness.
  • Contribute to the evolution of ID.me’s platform by building foundational services and frameworks used across the organization.

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Full-time in-office attendance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical contexts.
  • Passion for mentorship, documentation, and elevating team performance.
  • Demonstrated ownership of at least one significant project or feature from design through launch.
