Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) is looking for a Software Development Manager to oversee and execute business software implementations within Information Technology, driving operational and technical results through governance, project management, planning, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of software development experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Management and Agile Frameworks
  • Comprehensive understanding of application software and system concepts and the ability to apply them for the completion of difficult assignments
  • 4 + years’ experience with using the Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project)
  • 2 + years’ experience with Agile tools like Jira and Azure DevOps
  • Good knowledge in cloud technologies, architecture, and services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and execution of one or more business software implementation within Information Technology.
  • Drives expected operational and/or technical results through governance, project management, planning, and process improvements.
  • Exercise sound business and technical judgments in managing the initiation, planning, and execution of assigned initiatives.
  • Gathers and reports project costs, identifies and fix issues, anticipates risks and develops risk mitigation plans - Delivers all reporting and monitors progress toward achievement
  • Scopes projects with key stakeholders, develops implementation project plans according to allocated budget and expected timeline
  • Ensures clear communication of goals, costs, risks, efforts involved, as well as on the progress of the project
  • Drives implementation consistency and quality through execution of project management best practices- Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path items

  • This is a remote position requiring the candidate to reside in NE, MO, IA, KS or TX.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team framework and to motivate colleagues in order to manage projects most effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of medium or greater size, complexity, and impact
  • Ability to accomplish difficult tasks and make decisions with minimal supervision/review by others
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. (required to prepare presentations for Senior Managers)
  • Ability to work night, weekend and/or early morning hours based on business needs
