Thermo Fisher Scientific is looking to develop software to support their digital science vision, specifically for spectroscopy products, to tackle tough challenges like providing hope for cancer patients and ensuring safe drinking water.

Requirements

  • Strong software development skills with a focus on scientific instrumentation, knowledge of spectroscopy techniques desired.
  • Proficient with Microsoft development environments including C-Sharp and the .NET Framework; experience with multi-threaded development is desirable.
  • Experience in leading software projects and teams.
  • Background in both software engineering and spectroscopy.
  • Experience with Agile process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and guide a software development team that focuses on building and implementing software for our spectroscopy products.
  • Develop software solutions for instrument integration and multi-dimensional chemical analysis techniques.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, encouraging a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, involving hardware engineers, scientists, and product managers, to define software requirements and specifications.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in spectroscopy and software development technologies and integrate them into our products.
  • Ensure that software solutions are robust, scalable, and meet the needs of our customers and collaborators.

Other

  • BS / MS degree in computer science, engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in multidisciplinary product and/or software development environment, with 3+ years in a managerial/leadership role.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work within a matrix organization to achieve goals and gain alignment from key partners.
  • Ability to use data and metrics to identify and solve problems and drive continuous improvement.
