Thomson Reuters is looking to transform legal research and litigation workflows using Generative AI (GenAI) through the development of robust UI and backend services for their Westlaw product.
Requirements
Software Engineering Experience: Over 5 years of hands-on experience in software engineering with a demonstrated history of leading the development of scalable, web-based solutions. Proficient in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
Back-end Proficiency: Strong familiar or experience with popular Python frameworks, including Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
Front-end Proficiency: Skilled in using modern UI frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar, along with TypeScript and Node.js.
Data Engineering and MLOps Background: Solid foundation in data engineering or machine learning operations (MLOps).
Cloud Technology Experience: More than 3 years of experience working with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP, with a preference for AWS.
DevOps Practices: Well-versed in DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
AI Framework Knowledge: Familiar with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face, as well as GenAI concepts like prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and fine-tuning.

Lead & Inspire: Manage a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and growth.
Architect & Build: Engaged in design and own implementation of UI and/or backend solutions using modern frameworks and technologies, stepping in to code when necessary.
Strategize & Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams—product managers, designers, and other leaders—to define product strategy, set technical direction, and deliver innovative features.
Drive Execution: Own the team roadmap and project lifecycle, ensuring that initiatives move from ideation to successful production launches.
Mentor & Develop: Coach engineers, support professional development, and cultivate an environment where everyone can excel.
Measure Impact: Define success metrics to track and evaluate project outcomes, using data-driven insights to guide future decisions.
Shape Technology: Provide guidance on architecture, design, and best practices for front-end and back-end development.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Equivalent Experience.
Managerial Experience: 3+ years of managing engineering teams, with success in coaching, mentoring, and nurturing talent.
Hybrid Work Model: Expected to work in a hybrid environment (2-3 days a week in the office).
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to navigate ambiguity, make data-driven decisions, and deliver impactful results in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; familiarity with AWS platforms; AWS certifications preferred.
