Amazon's Rufus team is seeking an exceptional Software Development Manager to lead and grow a team of talented engineers in building AI-powered shopping experiences. This role will spearhead the development of innovative conversational commerce solutions powered by large language models (LLMs) to shape the future of how millions of customers interact with Amazon's vast product ecosystem through natural, intuitive conversations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled engineers in building scalable, robust AI-forward experiences
- Drive technical strategy and execution for core services that enable natural language shopping interactions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Applied Scientists, Technical Product Managers, and Economists to push the boundaries of what's possible with generative AI
- Build and scale infrastructure that allows partner teams to seamlessly integrate with Rufus's conversational capabilities
- Champion engineering excellence while fostering a culture of innovation and customer obsession
- Define and drive the technical strategy for building Search experiences, leading a team of engineers to innovate at scale.
- Architecting scalable, resilient AI-driven systems that can adapt across multiple product categories and shopping missions.
