North Atlantic Industries is looking for a Software Engineer I to assist the development team with all aspects of software design and coding to align with the overall goals of the business, potentially supporting the design and development of the Software Support Kit (SSK) package, GUI-based QT sample programs, GUI-based Windows test programs, or embedded software.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic coding languages like C, C++, C, and/or Java
  • Knowledge of basic design principles such as Object-Oriented design and programming
  • Familiar with Windows or Linux operating systems
  • Ability to work with hardware to develop and debug software which may include using tools like an oscilloscope, multi-meter, logic analyzer and JTAG probe.

Responsibilities

  • assisting the development team with all aspects of software design and coding
  • supporting the design and development of the Software Support Kit (SSK) package
  • supporting the design and development of the GUI-based QT sample program
  • supporting the design and development of GUI-based Windows test programs
  • supporting the design and development of embedded software
  • learning the codebase
  • assisting with the designing, coding and debugging of software

Other

  • Assisting the leads with all aspects of software design and coding.
  • Learning the codebase and improving coding skills.
  • Attending and contributing to company development meetings.
  • Participating in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Working on minor bug fixes.
  • BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred or at least 1 year of engineering and/or software programming experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate with other staff
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, and possess a high degree of curiosity and desire to learn new things
  • Good organizational skills
