Abacus Technology is seeking a Software Engineer to provide technical support at Wright-Patterson AFB.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in software engineering including at least 3 years supporting DoD programs.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of software engineering in support of the design, development, testing and evaluation, implementation, maintenance, and administration of new and/or existing software systems.
  • Must understand systems acquisition, systems and subsystems level hardware and software integration, systems requirements analysis and allocation, computer systems architecture, and systems and subsystems testing and evaluation.
  • Extensive knowledge in software assurance practices and tools to include architecture and design analysis tools, origin analyzers, source code weakness analyzers and binary analyzers.
  • Must understand aeronautical vehicle systems and/or airborne or related ground systems avionics operational flight program capabilities to support the core engineering tasks as they relate to software engineering.
  • Knowledge of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems.
  • Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria, to aircraft systems and subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform material solution analyses leading up to design reviews.
  • Translate user requirements into system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate systems, subsystems, and equipment for deployment.
  • Review, develop, and update applicable program documentation for software engineering relevant requirements.
  • Support the development of the software development strategy and Software Development Plan (SDP).
  • Support the System Integrity Programs including Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP), assist in maintaining and updating the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list, and monitor airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft.
  • Assist with the development of requirements and technology needs into action plans and policies necessary to improve and retain world class manufacturing, operations, re-manufacturing, and de-militarization/disposal of weapon system capabilities within the USAF.
  • Perform technical/mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts and perform technological/trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications.

Other

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present technical presentations.
  • Able to represent complex data in diagrams or through other techniques that communicate precise information to both business and technical staff.
  • Proven ability to understand the strategic and tactical approach to projects and handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
