Abacus Technology is seeking a Software Engineer to provide technical support at Wright-Patterson AFB.
Requirements
10+ years experience in software engineering including at least 3 years supporting DoD programs.
Able to demonstrate knowledge of software engineering in support of the design, development, testing and evaluation, implementation, maintenance, and administration of new and/or existing software systems.
Must understand systems acquisition, systems and subsystems level hardware and software integration, systems requirements analysis and allocation, computer systems architecture, and systems and subsystems testing and evaluation.
Extensive knowledge in software assurance practices and tools to include architecture and design analysis tools, origin analyzers, source code weakness analyzers and binary analyzers.
Must understand aeronautical vehicle systems and/or airborne or related ground systems avionics operational flight program capabilities to support the core engineering tasks as they relate to software engineering.
Knowledge of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems.
Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria, to aircraft systems and subsystems.
Responsibilities
Perform material solution analyses leading up to design reviews.
Translate user requirements into system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate systems, subsystems, and equipment for deployment.
Review, develop, and update applicable program documentation for software engineering relevant requirements.
Support the development of the software development strategy and Software Development Plan (SDP).
Support the System Integrity Programs including Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP), assist in maintaining and updating the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list, and monitor airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft.
Assist with the development of requirements and technology needs into action plans and policies necessary to improve and retain world class manufacturing, operations, re-manufacturing, and de-militarization/disposal of weapon system capabilities within the USAF.
Perform technical/mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts and perform technological/trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present technical presentations.
Able to represent complex data in diagrams or through other techniques that communicate precise information to both business and technical staff.
Proven ability to understand the strategic and tactical approach to projects and handle multiple projects concurrently.
Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
